Fire Risk Assessments

Assesses the extent to which you comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and review your fire emergency arrangements.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 you must carry out and regularly review a fire risk assessment of the premises.

What are your legal duties?

The main requirements are to:

  • Carry out an assessment considering all occupants, including visitors
  • Identify significant findings, and the details of anyone who may be at risk in the event of a fire
  • Provide and maintain fire precautions
  • Provide information, instruction and training to anyone who may be at risk in the event of a fire
  • Review your risk assessment at least annually

Carmarthen EHS Fire Risk Assessment follow the 5-step risk assessment process as recommended by the HSE and the published Government guidance documentation for the Fire Safety Order 2005 as follows:

  • Identification of the fire hazards,
  • Identifying the persons at risk from fire
  • Evaluation of the fire risks (eliminate, reduce or control)
  • Recording of the significant findings
  • Monitor and review fire safety processes.

Following the Fire Risk Assessment, we provide a consultation to discuss any significant findings, and from this any required actions which need to be implemented, so that fire safety is to a high standard.

In addition to Fire Risk Assessment, Carmarthen EHS can also offer a Fire Awareness training, which includes the following key learning points:

  • An understanding of current Fire Safety law
  • How fire spreads
  • Human behaviour in the event of a fire
  • Fire prevention measures
  • Fire drills and pre-planning
  • Firefighting equipment

The Carmarthen EHS Fire Awareness course, whilst focusing on the key learning points, is not generic, and will be designed around your specific needs in relation to fire hazards and risks highlighted in your company’s Fire Risk assessment.
