RISK ASSESSMENTS & METHOD STATEMENTS

We develop risk assessments and method statements or work instructions for clients, provide generic risk assessment pro-formas and procedures for clients.

Workplace Risk Assessments

The fundamental cornerstone of an organisation’s health and safety arrangements is the identification of potentially hazardous areas and activities together with the health and safety risks to people involved in each of those areas and activities, having regard to Health & Safety law (The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Reg.3).

Assessing your company’s risks and putting sensible controls in place is not only a legal requirement, but also the key to managing the risks of an organisation to keep costs down.

Unless the process you are looking at really is very complex, the risk assessment process can and should be kept as simple as possible. We can provide a clear, comprehensible system for assessing risks and give training for everyone involved in the process.

The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) stipulate a 5-step approach to risk assessment:

  • Identify the hazards
  • Identify who might be harmed and how
  • Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions, taking into account the legal requirements
  • Record the findings and implement them
  • Review the assessment and updating as necessary

Pure Health & Safety Consultants offer a range of risk assessment services and training include:

  • Completing risk assessments alongside your team
  • COSHH assessments – advice and guidance
  • Risk assessment training for your team
  • Risk management recommendations
  • Support in implementing your own risk assessment system

Method Statements

A method statement is a document that details the sequence of events to be carried out in a logical order, so as to enable a task to be completed in the correct manner while controlling the identified risks.

The Method Statement should:

  • Outline the hazards involved
  • Include a step by step guide on how to do the job safely

Pure Health & Safety Consultants can complete method statements alongside your team.

It is now commonplace for contractors, or the self-employed, to be requested to supply written risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and method statements by their clients prior to undertaking works or at the tendering stage, as this can assist your client in assessing your organisations approach to safety management.

Pure Health & Safety Consultants can help you ensure your company complies with all the risk-related components of the current Health & Safety regulations.
